SIX POINTERS FOR SELF PRAISE

Do you find it difficult to self praise? Are you often putting yourself down for not achieving enough? Even when you do meet your goals at the end of the week/month/quarter you don’t take time to acknowledge your accomplishments and give yourself a pat on the back.

If this is a familiar story in your life as a business owner then read on because I’ve some words of encouragement to help you embrace celebrating your awesomeness! In fact I’ve 6 pointers which I hope will enable you to see another perspective and begin a new positive and healthy pattern of self praise. 

And if you’re still struggling to call yourself Awesome, then wake up my friend and start believing it… today! 

I know it’s easy to focus on the negatives… Why did that potential client say no? How come I didn’t get a sell-out for my workshop? Where have my audience gone, I feel ghosted! What am I doing wrong?

Remember a negative thought, leads to a negative mind and our words and actions are then clouded and made small to fit the lower expectations and negative thinking that fuels our business.

“The temptation to quit will be greatest just before you are about to succeed.”

In order to create a positive healthy abundant growth mindset we need positive affirmative actions and words that encourage, motivate and spur us on to do more, achieve more & BE MORE!

And you know what all of this also results in? A sense of pride. I’ll just let that sink in a moment. Pride is a wonderful warm happy joyous thing. The more often we feel pride, the happier and more encouraged we are to dream bigger and go for those audacious big scary hairy goals!

Let’s get back to self praise and celebrating our wins. I’ve put together 6 suggestions on how to approach this idea of regular self praise.

  1. It’s your journey, no one else’s. Avoid the urge to compare yourself to other business owners. Remember it’s your business, your life, your dreams, your way.

  2. Set small achievable goals. Make it easy. Just a teeny bit challenging, otherwise it’ll feel pointless, but something that you know you could do if you put your mind to it.

  3. Make your rewards really meaningful to you. It will really motivate you to keep going if the treat at the end is something you really want. Ask yourself what would be a really great reward for X?

  4. Track your progress so you can see it crystal clear in black and white, how the steps you’re taking are gaining the results you are after. 

  5. Take the pressure off. Sometimes getting through the week completing just the bare minimum is a win. One week you’ll be firing from all cylinders ticking off the to-do’s like Superwoman and then the next week you’ll be in tortoise mode and a mindful cup of tea with a good book is in order. Both are okay. Both. Are. Okay.

  6. Success is not only the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow (which can often be rather disappointing when you actually get there), success it’s all the steps along the way. Enjoy those steps, they pave the way for what’s to come.
